Norwich 1-2 Manchester United (AET)
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made eight changes to his side and that could be felt by the poor performance of Manchester United in the first half. Norwich played their high pressing style and created the better chances. United, however, did take the lead with Odion Ighalo's volley but Todd Cantwell equalised with a well placed shot into the bottom corner. Solskjaer brought on the cavalry with Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial on the pitch but the game changed when Norwich centre back Timm Klose was sent off. They held on thanks to heroics from Tim Krul in goal but, with two minutes to go, Harry Maguire turned the ball home from close range.
Sheffield United 1-2 Arsenal
Sheffield United had the perfect start taken away when a goal from Jon Lundstram was ruled out for offside. Arsenal were the ones to open the scoring as Nicolas Pepe converted from the spot after Alexandre Lacazette had been fouled. Pepe then went close later on in the half but after the break, it was Sheffield United who were the better side. Dean Henderson almost scored a from a goal kick out of his hands and there was another disallowed goal, this time from John Egan due to David McGoldrick being offside. It would be McGoldrick who'd score the equaliser - a tap in after Arsenal failed to clear one of Jack Robinson's long throws - but Arsenal found a way to win. Deep into added time, Dani Ceballos slid the ball around Henderson to send the Gunners to Wembley.
Leicester City 0-1 Chelsea
The eye-catching fixture of the round did not live up to the billing in the first half. Harvey Barnes squandered two decent chances but it was more of the same passive, lifeless Leicester performance that has been apparent before and after lockdown. Chelsea, too, were poor and Frank Lampard made three changes at half time, one of them was Ross Barkley and he scored the only goal of the game. Leicester never got going and never created a clear cut chance to force extra time.
Newcastle United - Manchester City
Manchester City have never had an easier game. Benjamin Mendy, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez all missed good chances before City did finally put the ball in the net. It should've been around 5-0 before Jesus was pushed over in the area and Kevin de Bruyne scored from the spot. Aymeric Laporte almost added a second with a stooping header before half time but it was so easy for them. Newcastle did actually try in the second half with Dwight Gayle putting in a contender for miss of the season. Then, City went up the other end and scored through Sterling.
