The Big Match Previewed - Manchester City vs Manchester United

The two teams from Manchester go head to head this weekend in the Big Match. Both have underperformed this season but with wins on Tuesday, they have got back to winning ways and will be identifying this game as a way to propel their seasons.

Most expected Manchester City to win the Premier League again this season. Nobody, especially not Liverpool fans, expected City to be 11 points behind at any stage. Guardiola has paid the price for not buying a centre back in the summer as putting Fernandinho there has not helped matters. Their 4-1 win over Burnley was very impressive and perhaps a sign that City are getting back to their best but they have allowed Liverpool to muster a monumental total that does seem unlikely to claw back. City have to win every match and doing so against their city rivals will be even more sweeter.

If United are to get anything from this, they have to set up like they did against Liverpool. The wing backs restricted Liverpool's full backs from getting any joy down the flanks so the same must be done to limit City's wingers. The win over Tottenham seemed like a step in the right direction for Solskjaer but it isn't difficult to motivate your players against a Top 6 rival or on derby day. Rashford's pace will be important on the counter attack as City will dominate possession so any chance United do get will need to be finished.

The pressure hasn't been lifted on Solskjaer and the availability of a manager with the calibre of Mauricio Pochettino has made rumours swirl. Pochettino won't be unemployed for long and Ed Woodward would be stupid to miss out on someone who built Tottenham into a Champions League challenging side and developed young players - things United want to be and do. It is expected Manchester United turn up for these kind of matches and it is their record under Solskjaer against the "smaller" teams that is very worrying. Being in 6th feels like a false position and a loss with results going against them could see United fall to 11th.

I can't see Manchester City losing this. 3-0 City. They will simply be too much for Manchester United.
