The Big Match Previewed - Liverpool vs Everton

The Merseyside Derby is today's Big Match and is the first meeting between the two Liverpool sides this season. Drawn against each other in the FA Cup on Monday, the way the two meet this time around may be significantly different come this date next month.

Time is ticking for Marco Silva at Everton and his team found a new way of losing on Sunday against Leicester - last minute winner awarded by VAR. Truth be told, it was a good performance from Everton but fingers will be pointed at Silva for his side not holding out for a draw. It was a defeat that kept the Toffees one place above the relegation zone and if Southampton beat Norwich and Everton do lose, they will find themselves in the bottom three. There's rumours going round that Silva is seeing out these tougher matches to give the new guy an easier start but the Everton board may have to act sooner if they do go into the relegation places.

Liverpool are yet to lose a league game this season but there recent performances have not been inspiring. They have lacked imagination and not kept a clean sheet since 28th September. Despite not playing well, they are still picking up victories which, as the saying goes, is a sign of champions. Manchester City have fallen by the wayside and Leicester still remain eight points behind if both teams win tonight. Alisson is suspended do Adrian must be drafted into goal. The Spaniard performed excellently in his last stint in goal but with Liverpool not playing well, they need their best players available although he shouldn't be too much of a loss.

Everton have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield since 1999, so the away fixture is always ominous for the blue half of the city. Liverpool haven't set the world alight but their bad spell is nothing compared to Everton. It seems likely Liverpool will win and a derby fixture should motivate all players to be at their best. Everton's Anfield record speaks for itself and if you were to make a combined XI, it would be very difficult to make a case for any Everton players to feature.

Liverpool 3-0.
