The Big Match Previewed - Leicester City vs Everton

Two sides at opposite end of the table face off in today's Big Match. Leicester may go 2nd with at least a drawn but a loss for Everton would keep them one place above the relegation zone. With Marco Silva's job on the line, a loss would probably spell the end of his reign at Goodison.

Reports have been circulating that Marco Silva will be replaced, with Bournemouth's Eddie Howe now the top target for Everton. The results this season have been appalling for the amount of money Everton have spent over the last few seasons and the Moise Kean transfer has not yet been justified. The 2-0 loss to Norwich last week was arguably the worst of the season so far as, with all due respect to the Canaries, they are a poor side. Silva has never been able to fully convince the Everton faithful that he was the right man and they seem to have been right.

While Silva may be sacked, Brendan Rodgers has also leave but for a different reason. He has been shortlisted by Arsenal as a candidate for their managerial role due to the success of his Leicester side. Many expected Leicester to challenge for the Top 6 but, with the help of underperforming bigger sides and their own excellence, they are 3rd and have the chance to go 2nd. Leicester are the prime example of what a good manager combined with an engaged owner can achieve with good recruitment.

During the summer transfer window, I wrote an article on how certain sides may break into the traditional Top 6. I said Leicester would replace Arsenal. Then, when Arsenal signed Pepe, I changed my mind and said the Top 6 would remain as normal with Leicester a close 7th. How foolish does that look now? The thought of Everton entering the Top 6 never came to me. Leicester practically do everything better than Everton in all departments - recruitment, manager, playing style, results - but Everton potentially being relegated was never a thought.

Jonny Evans is fit for Leicester so the partnership of Evans-Soyuncu will be in place which is a boost for Leicester. Everton will be without Seamus Coleman and there are doubts over Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Theo Walcott. Even without the injury problems there is no way Everton can win this. Home advantage and being the better team will help Leicester to win and condemn Silva to the job centre.

3-0 Leicester.
