Who Should Be Named In The FIFA FIFPRO Men's World11 2019?

These World 11s always cause a lot of debate and this year will be no different. Last year, 3 Premier League players were included but the exploits of Liverpool and Manchester City mean there should be better representation for the English sides.

Below is who I think should make the World11.

GOALKEEPER

The five nominees are Alisson, David de Gea, Ederson, Jan Oblak and Marc-Andre ter Stegen. For me, it has to be Alisson. David de Gea does not deserve to be on the shortlist and Ederson is the back up to Alisson at national level. He has won the Champions League and Copa America and been such an important player for Liverpool and Brazil in both successes, making key saves and keeping clean sheets along the way.

VERDICT - Alisson (Liverpool)

RIGHT BACK

The nominees for this position are Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Alves, Joao Cancelo, Dani Carvajal, Joshua Kimmich and Kyle Walker. Walker isn't even England's second best right back and Carvajal had a disappointing season, as did Kimmich for their clubs. Alves didn't play enough games for PSG last year, which leaves Alexander-Arnold and Cancelo. For me, it's Alexander-Arnold. The threat he brings to Liverpool's attack is evident from yesterday, when he scored a ridiculous free kick. He got 16 assists last season which for a 20 year old is crazy.

VERDICT - Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

CENTRE BACKS

The nominees for central defence are Giorgio Chiellini, Matthijs de Ligt, Diego Godin, Kalidou Koulibaly, Aymeric Laporte, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos, Thiago Silva, Virgil van Dijk and Raphael Varane. Only five names on that list stand out to me from last season - de Ligt, Koulibaly, Laporte, Pique and van Dijk. Virgil van Dijk is likely to win The Best player so he has to be included and, while Pique and Koulibaly played well, that leaves de Ligt and Laporte. Both had maginifcent seasons but I think Laporte edges. I think he's an all round better defender and you can see how much Manchester City miss him when he doesn't play.

VERDICT - Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City) and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

LEFT BACK

The nominees for this position are Jordi Alba, Marcelo, Andy Robertson and Alex Sandro. There's only one name that deserves to be on this list and that is Robertson. There's been rumours that apparently Marcelo has been chosen and that is ridiculous. He was second choice for Real Madrid last season and Ferland Mendy was brought in for £43 million as his replacement. If he does win, it shows these awards are all based on reputation and that actual playing ability does not matter. Like Alexander-Arnold, Robertson was so key in Liverpool's success and registered 13 assists. Only he should be picked.

VERDICT - Andy Robertson (Liverpool)

MIDFIELD

The players from the fifteen shortlisted that I think deserve praise are Frenkie de Jong, Christian Eriksen, Eden Hazard, Bernardo Silva and Dusan Tadic (who should be a forward anyway). All these players were magnificent during last season and it would be harsh to leave any of them out. Hazard may miss out due to playing in the Europa League last season and Eriksen didn't win anything and perhaps wasn't up to the same high standard as the others. Tadic and de Jong, now at Barcelona, were instrumental in Ajax's team that was so mesmerising to watch in the Champions League. They play old style Cruyffian football of high intensity with short passing which is unbelievable. Bernardo Silva was arguably Manchester City's best player last season, with his silky dribbling causing defences nightmares as well as his insane pressing.

VERDICT - Frenkie de Jong (Ajax/Barcelona), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) and Dusan Tadic (Ajax)

FORWARDS

The players from the fifteen shortlisted that I think deserve praise are Sergio Aguero, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Lionel Messi, Mohamed Salah and Raheem Sterling. Ronaldo was the fourth top scorer in Serie A last season and did not play as good as the others. Aguero and Salah, in my opinion, should miss out. The others three performed at a level above the rest. Combined together, in 151 games, they managed 102 goals and 45 assists. Amazingly good.

VERDICT - Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Lionel Messi (Barcelona) and Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

That is my XI. No doubt Ronaldo and Marcelo will be picked on name alone when they don't deserve to be included.
