The Big Match Revisited - Manchester United vs Leicester City

Manchester United overcame a tough Leicester challenge to gain their first win since the opening weekend in what was a must win game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A Marcus Rashford penalty was the only goal as United moved into the Top 4, one placed ahead of Leicester.
Both sides went close early on as Andreas Pereira tested Kasper Schmeichel with a free kick and James Maddison also almost scored but wad denied by David de Gea. The game had its deciding moment when Caglar Soyuncu was adjudged to have fouled Rashford in the box and the England international, having not discussed with Pogba as the Frenchman was injured, scored from the spot.

Leicester had more possession than United but were unable to find the killer pass to release Vardy which can be attributed to the job Harry Maguire did on his former teammate. He was imperious in the air and had a chance to score but his header was straight at Schmeichel. Ben Chilwell forced a fine save from de Gea but the Foxes struggled to create clear cut chances.

Rashford almost doubled United's lead when he struck the cornerpiece from a wonderfully taken free kick but Leicester continued to do a lot without forcing much. Ndidi volleyed wide at the end and Leicester may feel they should've got more from the match. Maguire, booed throughout the match by the fans in the away end, had a terrific performance and showed why Solskjaer signed him.

It was three massive points for United and Solskjaer who after their poor start find themselves in the Champions League places and now above Leicester. There's still many ways in which United have to improve but the performance was not the priority today. It was about getting the win and that is what they did.
