The Big Match Revisited - Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur

This game has produced some memorable moments over the Premier League's history and today was another spectacular meeting between North London biggest sides.

I may have missed the first 38 minutes due to watching the All-Ireland Final but during that period it seemed like typical Arsenal. They were undone by a counter attack as Bernd Leno produced a weak parry which Christian Eriksen, finally starting, tapped in.

When I switched over, I saw a replay of a terrible tackle by Xhaka which did not result in a yellow card but did in a penalty. Harry Kane stepped up to the plate - scoring - and it seemed like a typical underwhelming Arsenal performance against a Top 6 side.

But cue the comeback.

Arsenal, roared on by the loudest the Emirates may have ever been, got one goal back just before half time through Alexandre Lacazette. Last time, Arsenal were 2-1 down at the break and won 4-2. It wouldn't happen again, would it?

No, it wouldn't. The Gunners did level as Guendouzi found Aubameyang with a lovely cross and the Gabonese striker flicked the ball into the net. Arsenal had chances before and after that goal and thought they had fully turned the tie around when, after a nicely worked free kick routine, the ball was bundled into the net but Kolasinac was offside before crossing.

Tottenham didn't roll over and did pressure Arsenal. Kane hit the post with a fantastic effort but Spurs, in my opinion, should have had two penalties, at least one anyway. Dele Alli was pulled down in the box and Kane looked like he was pushed and tripped by Sokratis. Martin Atkinson and VAR thought otherwise.

The North London derby doesn't feature the sides that create a spectacle like Liverpool versus Manchester United or City but what it does always give is entertainment. There was goals, penalties given and not given plus a great atmosphere.

A great advert for the Premier League.
