The return of the Premier League does not see a clash between two Top 6 sides. Today's Big Match is Manchester United against Leicester City. It is an intriguing match up and one that could go either way.
United have been struck with an injury crisis before today's game. Pogba, Martial and Shaw are all unavaiable and that is a big boost for Leicester, who have a fully fit squad. Solskjaer needed his best players with him as Leicester are a very tough side. They are playing the kind of football Leicester fans wanted are they are being rewarded under Rodgers with wins and are 3rd in the league.
Injuries mean United may have to start 17 year old Mason Greenwood on the wing. After selling Lukaku and Sanchez, Solskjaer openly admitted that he felt United were too light in attacking options. If he though that, then why did he sell them? Strange management. With Leicester, it's the complete opposite. Their recruitment has been spot on, with them getting Youri Tielemans from Monaco who had been linked with United. Moulded together with their young talent of Barnes, Chilwell and Maddison, this Leicester side has a great balance to it that is wonderful to watch.
Solskjaer is under huge amounts of pressure to turn things around at United. The feel good factor around his appointment had vanished by the end of last season and his limitations as manager are being found out too early. One bit of good business by Solskjaer was signing Daniel James from Swansea - that was £15 million well spent. £80 million for Harry Maguire, who faces his old side today, was a ludicrous amount and a fee that Leicester wanted 3 weeks before United stopped haggling and gave in.
There are lots of problems on and off the pitch with United, especially with the Glazers. Leicester are sound on and off the pitch with Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha an owner that the fans love dearly. Everything seems so bleak for United at this time and I can only see it getting worse. I reckon they'll lose today a Leicester side that is better organised, better in possession, better in defence and better in attack. It's weird to think that Leicester can now by considered better than Manchester United, which is testament to the work done at the King Power.
