Arsenal were humiliated in last week's big match as they lost 3-1 to Liverpool. They have an opportunity to make up for that with the North London derby to Tottenham this week's eye-catching fixture. Tottenham will also want to make up for a defeat last time out because Newcastle beat them 1-0 in a disappointing display.
Nacho Monreal was sold yesterday to Real Sociedad so that leaves Sead Kolasinac as Arsenal's only fit left back. Mesut Ozil, who like Kolasinac was involved in that knife attack, is available to play. Emery did not start Alexandre Lacazette against Liverpool last week, opting for a diamond with Aubameyang and Pepe up top, but he must start all three if Arsenal want the best chance of winning. A 4-3-3 with Lacazette through the middle should be deployed.
Mauricio Pochettino has a number of injury problems ahead of this massive test, with Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth, Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon all unavailable. Eric Dier is a doubt but Dele Alli could be a much welcomed return to the squad. Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen are both fit and Eriksen has to start. Pochettino has to bury the hatchet and choose these players for the good of the team.
Arsenal won their home derby 4-2 last season on what was a heated occasion. Both sides have a point to prove and nobody wants to lose against their biggest rivals. The Gunners have outperformed Spurs this season and I suspect them to be the winners today. Their attack is electrifying but it won't be simple, given the liability that is David Luiz in defence.
Tottenham must start Eriksen if they want to win. His performances off the bench show he is a level above what they have and the service he can provide Kane is vital for Tottenham's chances. It will be a close affair but I think Arsenal will edge it 2-1 but I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs won or if there was a draw. There is little between the two sides.
