The Big Match Previewed - Manchester United vs Chelsea

The first meeting between the Top 6 is on the opening weekend as Manchester United host Chelsea. Both sides have new(ish) managers who will be hoping to start positively with a win.

Manchester United fans have not had a great summer window, in their opinion. They have strengthened in defence (Maguire and Wan-Bissaka) but Herrera's exit has left midfield options sparse. Lukaku has gone as well and Daniel James as the only attacking income hasn't sparked confidence into fans.

All three players are good purchases but problems with the Glazers and Ed Woodward have been ever present during the summer and fans have come to the end of their tether and want them out. Their is quite a lot of negativity around Manchester United despite Solskjaer becoming manager which (for a while) was supposed to make things better. The fans back him, but they don't back the board.

The summer for Chelsea was quiet due to the transfer ban (except Kovacic) but they are buzzing with Frank Lampard in the dugout. He is a club legend and has created a feel good atmosphere that Maurizio Sarri never had. Chelsea's squad isn't great (they have some poor players) but it feels like the right time to finally promote some talented youngsters (Abraham, Mount and Tomori). This season is essentially a free hit for Lampard but he can use it to analyse his squad and decide in the summer who stays and who leaves.

Both sides will probably line up in a 4-3-3 formation. Maguire and Wan-Bissaka should make their debuts for United but James could be set for the bench. The excitement around Mason Greenwood is high and he may feature. Mount and Abraham should start for Chelsea but Tomori may have to settle for the bench.

Both sides want to play attacking football so it should be an exciting contest. There's little to separate the two teams so I predict a 1-1 draw.
