2018/19 Champions League Final Preview

The showpiece event of European football features two English sides for the first time since 2008. Liverpool will look to avenge last year's heartbreak by winning a 6th title while Tottenham seek a first ever triumph before their North London rivals Arsenal.

Both sides have had injury problems ahead of the game. Roberto Firmino missed the home semi-final against Barcelona but is ready to play according to Jurgen Klopp. Harry Winks and Harry Kane have been injured for lengthy periods but it is expected that Kane will be risked but not necessarily Winks.

Tottenham have the biggest selection conundrum with possibly 3 different tactics available to Pochettino. They could start Harry Kane with a flat back 4 but one of Son or Moura would miss out, they could start Harry Kane with 3 at the back but that would leave only two in midfield or, they could not start Kane and play the same team that beat Ajax. The only selection headache for Klopp is the third midfielder as Fabinho and Henderson are set to start and Wijnaldum should get the nod over Milner.

Liverpool should be considered the favourites. They came 2nd in the league, 26 points ahead of Spurs and did the double over them. There is, though, that sense of Istanbul with Tottenham. They have somewhat no right to be here but they are, and the "luck" that has got them to the final may carry on with another victory.

VERDICT - Liverpool

Liverpool are superior and that superiority will shine through. They have the experience of last year's defeat and will be desperate to finally win a trophy under Klopp. This has been a great journey for Spurs but this may be one step too far for them.
